ProfileJan Irvine is Programme Leader and Lecturer in Information and Library Studies at the Open Polytechnic. The Open Polytechnic is the main provider of undergraduate qualifications in the LIS industry, and is committed to working closely with industry to develop qualifications that meet the needs of employers and students. Jan has been teaching Information and Library Studies at the Open Polytechnic since 2000, and has significant experience and knowledge of the tertiary education landscape. She has been involved in qualification and programme development for ILS over this time and has conducted research into graduate outcomes. More recently, she has been closely involved in stakeholder engagement across the library sectors throughout New Zealand, as the Open Polytechnic considers the further development of its bachelor degree in Information and Library Studies, and the new sub-degree level qualifications arising out of the Mandatory Review of Qualifications (NZQA) process.
