    LAUNCH OF CANTERBURY PUBLIC
    LIBRARY’S PUBLIC COMPUTERS

    On Friday March 18 at 2.30pm in the Central Children’s Library (ground floor of the
    Central Library in Gloucester Street) the Mayor ofCh_ristchurch, Vicki Buck, will officially
    launch Canterbury Public Library’s new personal computers. These have been purch[...]rust Bank Canterbury Community rust, enabling the
    Library to introduce personal computers much earlier than[...]e. Units are located at the Central Children’ 5 Library, Linwood Library, and Hornby
    Library, while another will be located at Bishopdale Library, after May 8, once renovations

    The Masterton District Library has se-
    cured sponsorship from McDonalds

    The Microfilm Services Unit of the National Library microfilms
    New Zealand newspapers to archival sta[...]Specifications for microfilming newspapers in the Library of
    Co11gress (Washington: Library of Congress, 1972). The Unit
    microfilms current n[...]ers. (Dailies that are not filmed
    by the National Library are filmed by other agencies.) Community
    newspape[...]Newspaper Collection (NNC), Alexan-
    der Turnbull Library decides which newspapers to microfilm.

    Officer, I have resigned to take on a full
    time library job. I will be a Library Ad-
    viser with National Library’s School Li-
    brary Service working from the Auckland
    office. This position allows me to make use
    of my library and teaching backgrounds
    while working in an area[...]ts. Now in early
    1994 thatjob has become a way of life and
    at times my family and other commitments

    New Zealand Library and Information As-
    sociation Te Rau Herenga o Ao[...]nce she has resigned from the position to

    serve the day to day operation of a public
    library in a similar situation has been a
    totally valuabl[...]le. The
    physical environment being created in the
    library in terms of design and layout was
    also inspiring.[...]his exchange was to learn
    more about Children’s Library work in
    New Plymouth I also wanted to gain an
    ove[...]asis and depend on bulk loans from GP.
    The Mobile Library was a new experience
    for me and I enjoyed my day[...]able to discuss different aspects of
    Children’s Library work with Danae was
    of immense value and I am sur[...]urant , Jose trying the kangaroo meat Danae not.
