Fairfax Publications had seven newspapers across New Zealand. Its one-and-a-half million-piece vintage photograph archive was sent to the US to be digitized and was caught up in a series of problems. It was rescued by the photography gallery, Duncan Miller Gallery in Los Angeles, and their plan is to return the archive to New Zealand in a responsible manner.
