By: [unknown]2nd Oct 2015 5:44PMI've been thinking about this quite hard since you posted your question Bill - and I'll put it on the agenda for the next FOL discussion, as well as canvas members at conference.

In the interim I think my take is that national solutions need to begin with agreed principles before we arrive at specific solutions. In that way concessions made when selecting specific solutions will be understood and buy-in may be greater. I also think those solutions also need to be flexible and agile if we want them to remain relevant. New technologies are making things possible that weren't even a year or two ago. I saw an app this year that can sit over any library management system with an open API - it allows uniformity for users while maintaining individuality for libraries. Perhaps more of that type of approach may be possible.

I also think we need to look wider for partners - and you guys are probably ahead of us in that anyway. The next step of FOL may be an event like this one http://theunusualsuspectsfestival.com/ held in New Zealand.
